Why the selection?

Clients sometimes wonder why there are so many images taken and why they can pick five images when all they “need” is one.  From experience, Heather has learned that it takes time for a subject to warm up and feel comfortable in front of the camera.  Equally so, it takes the photographer time to get to know the subject in order to create beautiful portraits that show the client’s personality.  It is nice to have a change of wardrobe because it is hard to predict which colours or styles the client will like best until they see their proofs.  Having two looks (one more formal and one more casual or one in light tones and one in dark tones) not only gives the client the chance to see which they prefer, but it also allows them to have a variety of photographs to include in their five choices.

Clients value this because it gives them the option of using different portraits for different purposes.  For example, some clients use one photo for their website, and the other photos for different promotions they are doing.  They also appreciate the fact that they can change their image down the road to one in a different outfit and it looks like they have invested in a new shoot.
